Se abre la convocatoria para la tercera versión de Por una Cali Mejor Entre el 3 de abril y el 9 de mayo estará abierta la convocatoria a las organizaciones comunitarias de Cali que deseen inscribir sus experiencias innovadoras y exitosas de desarrollo comunitario en la ciudad. Por una Cali Mejor destacará y difundirá las más sobresalientes y entregará 25 millones de pesos en total a las que ocupen los tres primeros lugares. La iniciativa, convocada por la Fundación Corona, la Casa Editorial El Tiempo, Plan Internacional Programa Colombia, la Fundación AlvarAlice, el diario El País, la Cámara de Comercio de Cali y la Fundación Carvajal busca destacar experiencias de desarrollo social meritorias, que organizaciones sociales y comunitarias adelanten en beneficio del progreso y la calidad de vida de los habitantes de su barrio, de su comuna o de la ciudad en su conjunto. En la edición de 2007 el primer premio correspondió al Centro de Solidaridad La Esperanza Cesoles, que trabaja por la gente más humilde del sector de Los Chorros, en la Comuna 18 de la capital vallecaucana, gracias a una propuesta que integra comedor comunitario, jardín infantil, biblioteca y centro de capacitación para las madres cabeza de hogar de la zona. El segundo lugar fue obtenido por el proyecto Cine p´al Barrio, liderado por la Fundación Nacederos, el cual presenta películas en sectores marginados de Mojica, al oriente de la ciudad. En la deprimida zona, la Fundación invita a grupos de jóvenes pandilleros para realizar con ellos talleres de convivencia, a partir de miradas reflexivas de películas que manejen esa temática. El tercer lugar fue para la Asociación de Personas Discapacitadas, de la Comuna 18, que hace una labor de acompañamiento a ciudadanos con problemas de movilidad. Esta asociación ha logrado formar a personas con discapacidad, vincularlas al plano laboral y recuperarles su autoestima. La iniciativa de música y cultura para la zona rural del municipio de Cali, postulada por Fundaleonera obtuvo un reconocimiento especial y otras siete organizaciones se hicieron acreedoras a mención de honor. Esta tercera edición del premio se presentará el próximo miércoles 2 de abril en las instalaciones de la Cámara de Comercio de Cali.
